Gumroad lets creators sell digital products — courses, ebooks, software, music — directly to their audience with almost no setup. Its thick-outline comic-book design language was a deliberate 2021 rebrand away from startup polish, and the site has kept the bet ever since.
Why it earned its spot
Everything on Gumroad is drawn with the same confident black line — the outlined cards, the flat product illustrations, the giant pink G-coins tumbling through the hero. It is a comic strip pretending to be a commerce platform, and the flatness is the point: no gloss, no gradients, nothing corporate between a creator and the buy button. The style risks looking like a joke, but the ruthless consistency (one outline weight, a small pool of loud colors) keeps it reading as a system rather than a gag.
