Givebutter
Givebutter is fundraising and donor-management software for nonprofits, from one-page donation forms to ticketed events. With optional donor tips switched on it charges nothing at all — those tips are the whole business model, and the company was profitable on them before its first big raise.
Why it earned its spot
The homepage runs on butter yellow and a hand-drawn stick-of-butter mascot that climbs, waves and wears a cape as the page scrolls, which keeps a piece of financial software from reading like one. Below the hero it settles into a steady alternating rhythm: heavy sans headline and a short paragraph on one side, a cropped fragment of the actual product UI floating on a soft gradient on the other, so each feature is shown rather than described. A row of ribbon-shaped review badges and a G2 quadrant chart carry the proof, and a near-black footer closes the yellow off.
