CutMath
CutMath is a free set of woodworking calculators for the math before a cut: cutting layouts, board feet, wood movement, stair stringers. Every movement and hardness figure for its 100 species is taken from the USDA Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook, which is public domain.
Why it earned its spot
The palette is shop-adjacent without being literal: warm parchment ground, dark walnut text, and a single mustard accent doing all the pointing — the wordmark’s highlight, the one button, the numbered tabs on the tool cards. Those cards are hung like catalogue entries, NO. 01 through NO. 07, each carrying a one-line explanation written as an equation — screw gauge plus wood type yields pilot, clearance and countersink sizes — so a woodworker knows what a tool takes and returns before clicking. A small wireframe cut diagram sits where a photograph would be, and a dark band of four figures breaks the scroll with the site’s only real sell: zero sign-ups.
