LemonBench
LemonBench tells used-car buyers which model years of a given car to avoid, using NHTSA's federal complaint and recall records. It refuses to rank one model against another — complaint counts have no sales denominator — so each year is scored only against that same model's worst year.
Why it earned its spot
The page is near-black with one amber accent, and that restraint is doing real work: the row of small bars on every model card — the site’s ‘trouble strip’, one cell per year — reads as a heat gradient rather than a chart to decode. Four columns of those cards run alphabetically from Acura to Volvo in a single uninterrupted scroll, each carrying its worst-year verdict in dim grey type underneath. Above the grid, a two-line headline and three numbered panels slow the page down just long enough to teach what the colour means, so the wall of data that follows needs no legend.
